With over 300 days of sunshine a year, Rhodes is officially the sunniest place in Europe. Its overwhelming natural beauty and the significant marks of history are only some of the reasons that make the island so special.

Rhodes is a place where you can still find unique untouched beaches and crystal clear sea. Apart from that, there are many unique landmarks on Rhodes like the Medieval Old Town, designated by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, the town of Lindos, one of the most picturesque locations in Greece, the eco-park of the Valley of the Butterflies that attracts thousands of butterflies and the Seven Springs with seven trickling streams that flow into a lake. The landscape contrasts, from rocky wild scenery to lush greens valleys, make the island so special and an inspiration source for classic and modern artists.

The geographical location is only one of the reasons that made Rhodes a target of many aspiring empires over the years. Othomans, Romans, Byzantines, Knights of St. John, literally, the foundations of the world history, have all left behind varying distinctive landmarks, and as a result Rhodes is now an unrivalled resort that combines the cosmopolitan life of Europe with the mysteries of the East.

About Lindos

Lindos Village, which is located 50 km southeast of Rhodes town, has a population of 1,000 people. It is one of the most interesting archaeological sites in Rhodes and it attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world.

There are no cars in Lindos, just 'donkey taxis' which can take you to the beach or the Acropolis. Although the village is essentially unchanged, there are an ever increasing range of bars and restaurants to suit every taste.

The village is very well known for its Acropolis and it is the birthplace of Charis the Lindos, architect of the Colossus of Rhodes. Just like the Old Town of Rhodes, Lindos was declared as a monument for preservation and therefore it has managed to maintain its old tradition and style.

Rhodes Off-season

With over 300 sunshine days a year, Rhodes is a strong contender as a winter holiday destination. When you consider the Caribbean has 300 rainy days a year against 300 sunshine days in Rhodes, it makes sense to consider Rhodes for your winter break.

If you prefer a 'quieter' and more 'away from it all' holiday experience, without the intensity of the summer heat, Rhodes is a perfect winter destination.

During the winter months, the temperatures in Rhodes are much cooler, you may see some rain and the island is quieter. This is an ideal way to experience Rhodes as the locals do and to get a feel for the real Greece.

Rhodes off-season can be very special. Many bars and restaurants remain open and these bars and restaurants will be the ones where you will find the locals, and where you find the locals is where you find the real Greece and all that goes with it.

Lindos Villa Fedra is available throughout the winter season and with extremely competitive rates, this means outstanding value for families and still very affordable for couples.

Getting there off-season from the UK: Easyjet flights to Athens with connecting flights with Aegean Air to Rhodes are available at very competitive prices. Aegean Airways are also flying to Athens from Stanstead and Heathrow with great connection times and the added luxury of flying with a scheduled airline!  There is also the added option of spending a night in cosmopolitan Athens en-route to Rhodes or at the end of your holiday to experience the culture of the Greek capital.

Getting to Rhodes

The International airport of Rhodes (Diagoras) is 16 kilometres south-west of Rhodes Town. There are 16 daily connecting flights to Athens and many more to other national destinations. From April to October there are daily Charter flights to and from various International destinations.
